Explore the Todra Gorges & Merzouga Desert
Your journey begins in Ouarzazate and takes you through the impressive Todra Valley and Todra Gorges, where towering red cliffs rise dramatically above the river. Continue toward Merzouga, where you’ll experience the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, ride camels through the Sahara, and watch the sunset from a high dune.
Experience the Sahara Beyond the Dunes
The second day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region. Discover traditional nomadic life, visit Khamlia, experience Gnaoua music, explore a palm grove, and see the seasonal Merzouga Lake. You’ll also enjoy a 4×4 excursion through the desert before spending another memorable evening surrounded by the Sahara.

Wake up early for a spectacular desert sunrise before heading west toward Ait Ben Haddou. Explore this famous UNESCO World Heritage Site before crossing the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka Pass on your way to Marrakech.
Itinerary
Day 1: Ouarzazate → Todra Gorges → Merzouga → Camel Trek
Overnight: Luxury Desert Camp
Your 3 Days Desert Tour from Ouarzazate to Marrakech begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation or Ouarzazate Airport. Leave the city behind and travel east through the beautiful landscapes of the Todra Valley.
Continue toward the famous Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a spectacular canyon through the surrounding mountains. Take time to walk through the gorge, admire the enormous red cliffs, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable natural site.
Continue through the palm groves around Touroug and Tinjdad, with time for lunch along the way.
In the afternoon, reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara and the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. Leave your vehicle and climb onto your camel for an unforgettable ride across the golden sands.
As the sun begins to set, stop on a high dune and enjoy the changing colors of the Sahara. Continue to your luxury desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber drums, and an evening around the campfire beneath the stars.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga → Nomads → Khamlia → Lake → Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, spend the day discovering the different sides of the Merzouga Desert. Instead of simply staying around the dunes, today’s 4×4 excursion takes you deeper into the desert and introduces you to its landscapes and communities.
Begin with an off-road drive toward an old kohl mine, an interesting reminder of the region’s traditional mining history.
Continue to a nomadic settlement where you’ll meet local Berber nomads living in traditional woven tents. Enjoy a cup of Berber tea while learning about their lifestyle, traditions, and life in the desert.
Continue to Khamlia, a village famous for its traditional Gnaoua music and dance. Take time to experience the music and learn about the cultural heritage of the community.
After lunch at a local restaurant, continue through a desert palm grove before heading toward Merzouga Lake, a seasonal body of water surrounded by the desert landscape and sometimes visited by migratory birds.
Later, return toward the Erg Chebbi dunes and enjoy another camel experience or relax around the camp area while watching the sunset.
Spend your second evening enjoying traditional dinner, Berber drumming, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara beneath a clear night sky.

Day 3: Merzouga → Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
Wake up early to experience one of the highlights of the trip: sunrise over the Sahara dunes. Watch the first light spread across Erg Chebbi before returning to the camp for breakfast.
After breakfast, meet your driver and begin the long journey west toward Marrakech. Travel through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco, with stops along the way for panoramic viewpoints and short breaks.
Continue toward Ouarzazate, where you’ll have time for lunch before continuing toward the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Explore this historic fortified village, one of Morocco’s most recognizable architectural landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through its narrow passages and traditional earthen buildings while learning about its history and importance along the old caravan routes.
After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, continue toward the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views of the mountains and valleys along the winding road.
Continue descending toward Marrakech, where you’ll arrive in the evening.
Tour Ends: Drop-off at your accommodation or Marrakech Airport.
